Terra Solar believes that independent power production will be a major area of opportunity in the future. Due to emissions control and renewable portfolio standards, many utilities are being forced to enter into long-term power purchasing agreements (PPA). These agreements, if properly executed, will enable the owner of the PPA supplier to own a steady substantial long-term cash flow over 10 to 20 years.
Terra Solar has experience in successfully developing, financing and operating independent power projects. This expertise gives Terra Solar a unique advantage in an industry that is generally focused on R&D and manufacturing.
Each power project can be an independent entity which has its own financing, attracts its own investors, uses Terra Solar technology as its primary, though not necessarily exclusive, source for PV panels and enjoys the expertise of Terra Solar's management.
Terra Solar also offers Manufacturing Integrated Photovoltaic Power Projects (MIPPP) as a means of providing the lowest cost PV electricity. MIPPP gives the customer two options. In the first, the customer would purchase a 5 MW a-Si manufacturing facility the output of which, for the first 5 years, would be put into a 25 MW PV power station. This option allows PV electricity to be obtained at the the lowest cost. The second option would be to purchase the PV power generating facility itself. The cost of PV electricity in this case would be slightly higher than the first option.
