The photovoltaic industry will continue to undergo dramatic change for the next decade. Terra Solar is committed to staying on the leading edge of evolving technologies. Terra Solar's continuing investment in R&D will keep both the company and its clients, who bought manufacturing equipment from Terra Solar and are using Terra Solar technologies, technologically competitive.

Our research effort is always related to our core business of thin-film-based PV modules on a glass substrate. Terra Solar will continue to research ways to improve the efficiency of amorphous silicon thin-films, reduce the instability associated with the Staebler Wronski effect and further exploit the partial transparency of a-Si for application in PV windows. Our research on CIGS devices focuses on optimizing the manufacturing process. Efficiency of CIGS modules is expected to reach approximately 15% – comparable to the efficiencies of crystalline silicon. Terra Solar is also developing large-area substrate thin-film modules. CIGS on such large-area substrates is expected to yield output of over 300W.
